HERE IS MORE HELP FROM CONGRESSWOMAN STEPHANIE HERESETH SANDLIN
THIS ONE MAKES ME SICK THAT $350,000 GRANT WOULD BE NEEDED FOR SOMETHING SO HORRIBLE, HAPPENING ON OUR RESERVATIONS. NO EXCUSE AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED. THIS IS SOMETHING THESE CHILDREN MAY HAVE TO CARRY THE REST OF THEIR LIVES, TRUST ME I KNOW.
HERSETH SANDLIN ANNOUNCES $350,000 CHILDREN’S JUSTICE GRANT FOR OGLALA LAKOTA CASA PROGRAM
October 1st, 2008-Today, Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin announced that the Oglala Lakota Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program in Pine Ridge is the recipient of a Children’s Justice Act Partnerships for Indian Communities grant in the amount of $350,000. The funding will be used to increase support for victims of child sexual and physical abuse.
“Children the world over deserve a happy childhood free from fear of abuse, whatever form it may take,” Rep. Herseth Sandlin said. “This funding will help CASA continue its important work of supporting child victims of abuse.”
Administered by the U.S. Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime, this grant will support the development and implementation of comprehensive child abuse programs and child sensitive policies and procedures for addressing child abuse cases in the tribe’s criminal justice and child protection service systems.
